Cooperativism: Development that lasts

The Center for Global Justice in conjuction with The University of Queretero is presenting a talk and round table discussion on cooperatives and how they enhance, sustain, and improve our lives. This talk will explain why cooperatives are important and what some of the steps are to forming them.

Lic. Jose Santiago Cuervas, a longtime activist and organizer of cooperatives will be speaking in the morning, followed by a light meal and discussion amongst participants and Lic. Cuervas in the afternoon. This is a great opportunity for groups that are interested in starting coops, have tried to start one and not been successful, and those already involved with cooperativism. The goal of the day will be to inform, network, and share with each other our experiences and questions.

This talk/discussion is the first phase of a two phase plan to host another more amplified cooperative workshop in early spring. The next workshop will be more geared toward practical workshops, and will have different topics for participants to choose from such as, accounting for coops, coop history, working in a team, etc.

This talk will be free of charge to participants and in Spanish, there will be no translation for English speakers. The event will be held at #42 Calzada de la Luz (between Loreto y Animas) in Colonia Centro of San Miguel de Allende from 12:00pm on.
